WordPress 3.0 Thelonious Release

At last, all the puzzle and rumors answered. WordPress has release their 3.0 version with a code name “Thelonious”. This version come with awesome new features and merge together with WordPress MU.

Apart from that, WordPress 3.0 come with a new default theme called “Twenty Ten”. It will replace the former Kubrick theme were been on wordpress for 5 years. Theme developers also have new APIs that allow them to easily implement custom backgrounds, headers, shortlinks, menus, post types, and taxonomies.

While it may be premature yet to speak about the details of WordPress 3.0, it is still a good idea to tinker around and take a quick look at the enhancements of this latest WordPress upgrade. Most of us are all too familiar with those plugins that promise custom type posts in current versions of WordPress that end up with glitches and, at times, never get updated, particularly during upgrades.

Well, this is one of the reasons why we are really excited about WordPress 3.0. The developers of this newest version of WordPress are introducing custom post types, although it is not yet definite whether it will solely be built into the API or presented as GUI in the settings. However, this will not require much skill in coding in order to add them through the functions.php or plugin.

WordPress 3.0, the latest WordPress version, could well be one of most highly awaited open-source upgrade in the blogosphere. WordPress, which is undoubtedly the most popular personal publishing platform today, is coming out this year with an upgrade which is expected to redefine the way we do our blogging. As a good measure of its lofty position, WordPress is used to run large websites including TechCrunch, Mashable and Smashing Magazine.

WordPress 3.0 was calendared for release on May 1, 2010. However, the latest advice from WordPress track indicated that this scheduled release has been moved to a later date which is yet to be announced. WordPress developers cited the need to fix some bugs as the reason for the postponement in the release of WordPress 3.0.
